01 · The Story

A Life Given to the Study of Yoga

Dr. Vishvanath N. Pise began teaching in June 2000 as a Yoga and Physical Education teacher at Agrasen High School, where he taught for over a decade. Alongside the classroom he trained at Kaivalyadhama, Lonavla and Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth, and completed a full-time Master’s in Physical Education with Yoga as his subject.

On 21 December 2005 he taught the first Anahat Yoga class in New Sangvi. That single class grew into a community across Baner, Balewadi and Wakad — and, from March 2020, live online. In 2014 Anahat Yoga became an affiliated centre of S-VYASA (Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana), Bengaluru.

His curiosity did not end with a Master’s degree. He went on to an M.Phil. and a Ph.D. in Yoga, researching how Yoga affects children with intellectual disabilities and mental health. His work has appeared in national and international journals and newspapers.

“Efficiency directly affects productivity.”
The belief behind 15 years of corporate Yoga — and research now shows regular practice enhances efficiency.

Today he leads Anahat Yoga’s classes, personal guidance, instructor education and corporate programs, and conducts sessions on ergonomics for desk-bound teams. He teaches in English, Hindi and Marathi, and shares practice through the Anahat Yoga Pune YouTube channel.
